Hahahaha aHAHAhahahahaaa... apparently XP Service Pack 3 wasn't fully tested on Apple laptops and the installation fails without a little hacking.  That's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.  Thanks Iain :-)

Surely this is Microsoft's fault and not that of Apple... I heard that XP SP3 is shocking on ANY computer, anyway... Mac or otherwise.

Its probably Apple's way of ensure people don't go messing up their MacBook Windows partition by going and installing it...

You must be right!  It's so fortunate that Apple looks out for the good of my computer by preventing me from installing important updates.

Honestly guy....

I have a XPP/sp3 disk to install on a MacBook. There is no audio port available and an unknown PCI device is mark with an exclamation. Using Boot Camp 2.1. Can't remove the sp3 as others have suggested to resolve the problem because its incorporated into the retail box.
