twelve angry men

by Dave Thu 30 March 2006 @ 01:02
Actually eight men and four women.  I've been selected for jury duty, and this week have heard my first case.  It was really interesting actually - far better than I had expected it to be.  In the end we couldn't come to a verdict, so the judge took the case off our hands and dismissed us.  The process of trying to persuade someone to come around to your point of view, when you are all in posession of exactly the same information is an interesting one.  Back again for some more tomorrow :-)

rodrigo y gabriela

Last night we went to see Rodrigo y Gabriela again.  This was my third time seeing them, and they were awesome.  It was a small venue too, which was nice.  We were standing so close to them, that we could have reached over and touched their guitars.  Like I said... Awesome!

new look?

by Dave Sat 11 March 2006 @ 04:52
I had a day off today, so I took a look at re-designing the site.  Here's an example of this new design (old, deprecated link), which is based on an open source layout called Mollio.  It should render a lot faster than this one, as there are a lot less graphics.  I'm still not sure about it though.  One of these days I'm going to have to start looking at my backups to find the original PSDs of the PageOne / OldStuff / Personal etc buttons on the left.  You see, OldStuff isn't really old stuff anymore.  I use that to hold some code snippets that I use on the web site.
Anyway, the new layout is fully XHTML strict and CSS compliant.  The layout is done completely in CSS, as opposed to tables, which the older version uses.  It should render better in other browsers too... not that I really care about that ;-)
