I have a horrible feeling that the US are actually going to elect George Bush again. What a fucking disaster that would be. I can understand how you could be a little bit blinkered in evaluating your own politicians without the benefit of external information, and it seems like there is no unbiased big-media information in the US. So why the hell don't they actually look beyond themselves and see what the rest of the world thinks about this? Are they so self contained that they don't actually ever see news from around the world? Maybe they are. I read several US news sources regularly, like
Salon,
Wired and
Slashdot, and I think I am biased against Dubya. However, I also realise that John Kerry isn't the way to go either, but at least he's the lesser of two evils. I hate making generalisations like this, but Americans it seems, aren't informed enough about the world to see past their own large-screen TVs. I had a brilliant moment of fantasy last night, when I imagined Tony Blair saying "Oh no, that fucker got elected again", in response to the election. Unfortunately, polls are suggesting that the Bush has the lead in the race. ::sigh:: We'll just have to wait and see.
It looks like Pipex didn't work out. Nice package, but its missing some things that I think a Microsoft .Net host should have - like an a method of accessing the files with Microsoft's development environment. The package doesn't come with file level access or Frontpage extensions, and the interface to control the SQL Server is cumbersome to say the least.
The site may be down for a few days while moving to Pipex. Hopefully it won't be too long :-)
Interesting things happening with the site lately. I bought a new hosting plan with a UK company earlier, and it should make things a lot faster in the future. I'll move everything over in the next few days hopefully. The new account is with Pipex, under their
WebFusion brand. Oh, and I came up with a new design for the UI again... you can see it
on this page.
So I got back into Eve today, for the first time in a couple of weeks. I was just too busy with other stuff to play much. Lots of changes going on in the game, and in the corp too. Oh, I think its going to be about time for me to get a digital music player soon. Toshiba have a 1.6" 60GB disk on the market at the moment, and Apple are going to put it in their iPods. Creative or someone else will follow soon with a proper Windows player.
