This weekend has been "museum weekend". Yesterday we went to the Design Museum, and today we took in the Victoria & Albert, and the Science Museum. The V&A has a permanent exhibition of casts, which Anna wanted to see and get photos of, for a project she has to do for her course. There was an interesting little display in the middle of the two cast halls, which was of fakes and forgeries. Cool stuff - people are unearthing fakes by looking at details such as the shape of a shield or sword, and other things you wouldn't spot unless you knew exactly what to look for. After that we went to the Science museum, which had some pretty cool stuff, but was overall un-inspiring. There was an exhibit about hacking, and hackers, and they got it all wrong (typically). We did buy a kite though - its about a meter square, made from spinnaker nylon, and with a dual-line control system (so we can make it loop and dive!). Will tell you about that next weekend, if the weather holds.

Some interesting things came together in my head today, and I have a better idea of what I want to do with the web site. We were in the Design Museum, some of the works we saw can be seen
here and
here.

When I woke up this morning, my eyes hurt. A lot. I have no idea what was going on, and it was just probably one of those heavy-photosensitivity days, but it was a little worrying. Got me to thinking... if I was blind what the fuck would I do. I mean... we can't even make AOL properly accessible, so what possible job could I do if I wasn't able to see the screen? Are there any blind programmers out there? I suspect not... but there's always
hope. How morbid for first thing on a saturday ;-)

This is pretty cool - I'm writing this on my PDA ;-) The quality of sites displayed on Pocket IE is far better than I had seen before. Text is still a complete bitch to enter though.
